Microschool Accreditation

Microschools are small, learner-centered programs that often operate in homes or community spaces and use personalized, mixed-age, or project-based models. ACS WASC offers a flexible accreditation pathway that honors innovation while assuring quality.

WASC accreditation for microschools

  • Recognizes innovative, student-centered approaches

  • Provides a credible, right-sized pathway tailored to microschools

  • Aligns with global standards of quality and rigor

  • Drives continuous growth and schoolwide improvement

  • Strengthens trust with families, communities, and partners

How the process works

Schools complete a self-study aligned to WASC core standards—mission and purpose, governance and leadership, curriculum and instruction, student learning and well-being, and resources. Evidence can be presented in ways that fit the school’s unique format and learning environment. A virtual accreditation option is available specifically for microschools.

Our commitment

“Every student deserves an education that inspires. Microschools are rising to that call, and WASC is proud to support these models with a process that honors both creativity and quality.” — Dr. Barry Groves, President & CEO
