Dr. Margaret Alvarez
Vice President, International Accreditation
Based in Singapore, Dr. Margaret Alvarez brings over nine years of experience in international accreditation. Prior to joining WASC, she served as Head of School at ISS International School, Singapore. Her work has included research in school improvement, collaboration with government agencies, development of accreditation protocols, and training for educators and school leaders worldwide.
Stephen Massiah
International Consultant
Stephen Massiah is based in Bangkok, Thailand, and brings a global perspective from his work in international schools in Qatar, South Korea, Thailand, and Hong Kong. He previously served as a principal in Toronto, taught at the University of Toronto, and worked with the Ontario College of Teachers. His experience spans leadership, teacher education, and accreditation.
Dawn Rock
International Consultant
With over two decades in international education, Dawn Rock has served as a teacher and high school principal. Her 12 years of school leadership and extensive accreditation visit experience reflect her deep commitment to supporting school growth and improvement through collaboration and reflection.
Nehad Ahmed
International Consultant
Currently based in Doha, Qatar, Nehad Ahmed has more than 25 years of experience in education. For the past 14 years, she has worked with the Ministry of Education in Qatar, supporting international school evaluation. She also brings leadership experience as a former school principal in Southern California, with expertise in coaching, curriculum development, and policy planning.
Natalie Merritt
International Consultant
Natalie Merritt began her career in South Wales, U.K., before spending 16 years at the largest K–12 international school in Singapore. Her experience includes leadership roles in curriculum development, department coordination, and residential life, bringing a holistic understanding of international school communities.
Alana Steward
International Consultant
Based in Canada, Alana Steward has held diverse roles in international schools across Macau, Kyrgyzstan, Austria, Japan, and Canada. Her background includes leadership in teaching and learning, ICT integration, EAL support, and special education. She holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and is passionate about guiding schools through the Focus on Learning process.
Michael Bevis
International Consultant
Michael Bevis brings a strong background in international education, with expertise in leadership, multilingual learning, and student advising. His experience spans Asia and North America, with a focus on cross-cultural development, diversity and inclusion, and mental health advocacy. He is also fluent in Mandarin and an avid marathon runner.
